I’m excited to finally share a project I worked on for one of YouTube’s biggest creators — FGTeeV, a wildly popular family gaming channel with over 24.5 million subscribers.

In this particular video, “Fortnite Campfire Tale!” (watch it here), I was brought in to bring the world of Fortnite to life with custom CG animation and VFX that blend seamlessly with live-action footage.

What I Did:

  • 3D Animation & Compositing: The moment when Vince lands beside the Fortnite reboot van? That entire scene — including the van, shadows, and environment interaction — is fully CG. I rotoscoped Vince into the scene and integrated the CG elements to match the handheld camera work and lighting.

  • Character Integration: I animated the in-game character with mocap that appears in multiple shots, making sure the movement and stylization aligned with Fortnite’s aesthetic while fitting into the live-action footage naturally.

  •  Fire & FX: The action-packed visuals are enhanced with stylized fire, explosions, and particle effects. I used footagecrate.com for the assets to integrate.

  •  Ending Animation bumper: For the ending, I animated the smore’s to appear as if it’s falling over, added Marshmallows to the existing practical ones and made the hotdog wiener appear as if it was exploding as well as added fire.

Tools Used:

  • 3ds Max for modeling, animation, and lighting

  • Adobe After Effects for rotoscoping, compositing, and final polish

  • Mocha Pro for advanced tracking

This was a fast-paced and creatively challenging project — the kind I love to tackle. Working with such a well-known content creator made the pressure real, but also made the payoff even sweeter. Projects like this are a reminder of how far CG and VFX can go in bridging gaming, storytelling, and real-world visuals.

If you’re a brand, agency, or creator looking to bring your stories to life with animation or visual effects — get in touch. I’d love to help.
